Choose an insect guard for an air conditioner drain hose by checking the hose diameter and the product's stated fit. Do not choose by appearance alone. Check the hose label, installation documents, or air conditioner manual, then compare them with the guard's part number.
This guide uses ELPA (Asahi Electric) insect guard BDC-70H as an example. The manufacturer lists it for Ο14 mm and Ο16 mm drain hoses and says one pack contains two guards. If you cannot identify the hose size or the shape does not match, do not force the part onto the hose. Ask the installer or manufacturer.
Check the hose label and size first
Look for the drain hose near the outdoor unit. Check its printed label, installation paperwork, or the air conditioner manual, but only where you can reach safely. If you would need to lean out or reach into a narrow space, do not inspect or install it yourself; contact the installer.
The manufacturer's listing for BDC-70H says βfor Ο14 and Ο16.β The published information gives those diameter values but does not explain which part of a household hose to measure. Do not decide fit from an outside measurement with a ruler alone. Prefer the hose model or label and the installer's records.
| Check | What is listed for BDC-70H | Confirm before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Diameter | Shared fit for Ο14 mm and Ο16 mm | Which size matches the hose label or model |
| Product | ELPA BDC-70H | The product name and part number match |
| Quantity | Two per pack | The number of drain hoses and guards needed |
| Installation | Insert the hose fully and secure it with vinyl tape or similar | Whether you can follow the manual's instructions |
The manufacturer's statement that it fits drain hoses from different brands applies to the listed diameter range. It does not establish fit for a different diameter, a crushed or cracked hose, or a shape that does not match. Do not modify the guard or force it onto the hose using a method that the product information does not describe.
Do not use a guard to fix a drainage problem
The product is described as helping prevent clogs caused by insects entering the hose. That wording does not guarantee that insects will never enter, or that an existing clog or water leak will be fixed.
If the indoor unit is dripping, no water drains, the hose is crushed or detached, or you suspect a clog, check the air conditioner manual and contact the installer or service desk before adding a guard. Do not block the drain outlet or push objects into the hose.
Check the part number and order terms

The manufacturer's manual says to push the guard fully onto the drain hose and secure it with vinyl tape or similar. If you cannot install it as described, do not force it; ask the installer.
