Before Using a Robot Vacuum: Check the Floor, Dock and Hazards

Measure the cleaning area, thresholds, furniture clearance and dock space. Check hazards and maintenance before choosing a robot.

A robot vacuum needs more than an open route. Check floor-care rules, thresholds, furniture clearance, cables, drop-offs, dock space and maintenance. Manufacturer measurements do not prove that the robot will work in your home.

Draw the area you want it to clean

Mark the floor types, rooms, furniture, narrow passages, rugs, cables and places where the floor drops. Check each floor maker's cleaning rules. A label such as “wood” or “rug” alone does not confirm that a robot brush is suitable.

Separate climbing height from fall protection

Compare the threshold's shape and height with the exact robot's manual. A claimed climbing height does not show that every threshold can be crossed. Stairs, entrance steps and other drops are a separate hazard. The Eufy C10 safety guide says to block places where the robot could fall and to remove cables and small items before use. A map or no-go zone does not replace those steps. C10 safety guide

Measure furniture clearance and the charging station

The C10 body is listed as 7.2 cm high. This does not establish clearance under furniture: measure the lowest beam, rug and path, and check the manual's requirements. Do not push the robot under furniture to test a tight gap.

Measure the dock itself and the space needed around and in front of it. A place where the dock physically fits may still leave too little room for the robot to return. Check the maker's current placement instructions for the exact model.

Remove cables and floor objects

Pick up loose cords, small objects and rug fringe that may catch or move. Keep the floor outlet conditions in the safety guide. Do not rely on mapping, obstacle avoidance or a restricted zone to make a hazardous floor safe.

Plan maintenance and replacement parts

Automatic dust collection does not remove all care. The C10 instructions call for switching off and unplugging the unit before care, fully drying washable parts, and cleaning sensors and charging contacts as directed. Wash only parts named in the manual. Check exact replacement part numbers, compatibility, current price and availability before purchase. Stock and future supply are not guaranteed by a catalog listing.

Do not use the maximum runtime as a home estimate

Published runtime depends on the mode and test conditions. It does not show how long the robot will take in your rooms, whether it will finish before charging, or how much dirt it will collect. Cleaning performance and operating time in a home have not been measured here.

If your notes show an unsafe drop, unclear floor-care rule, blocked dock or unknown replacement fit, resolve that point before choosing a robot. See the home cleaning checklist.
