Cleaning Under Furniture: Check Before Buying a Vacuum Nozzle

Identify what hits the furniture and compare the exact vacuum model, attachments and safe clearance before buying a part.

When a vacuum cannot reach under furniture, a narrow nozzle or flexible hose may seem useful. But a nozzle tip fitting does not prove that the pipe or vacuum body can move through the space. Check what is actually blocked before buying anything.

Identify the model and attachments

Read the model name on the body and use its manual. Do not choose a part only because the voltage or connection diameter looks similar. For the Makita CL107FD, the manual lists a standard nozzle, straight pipe and sash nozzle but does not give individual part numbers in that table. The CL108FD manual lists numbers for its parts. Do not copy a CL108FD number for the CL107FD; ask a retailer to confirm the exact order number for your model.

Match the attachment to the surface

The manuals show different setups for floors, furniture tops and narrow gaps. A narrow nozzle is not a replacement for a floor head. Follow the model's fitting directions; the two models may turn or lock differently. Also check the floor, furniture and rug care instructions. If the surface or attachment is not identified, do not test it.

Measure where the tool hits

With the vacuum off and battery removed, record the lowest height, narrowest leg spacing, distance to the target spot, beams or crossbars, and the space needed to move the body and your hand. Include the head, connectors and pipe angle—not only the opening. Do not lift heavy furniture or crawl into an unsafe space. The manuals do not specify a minimum clearance for every furniture shape, so do not infer it from overall product dimensions.

Check whether a replacement is needed

The Makita manuals list a flexible hose, part A-65925, as a separately sold item for these models. That listing does not prove that it will reach your furniture or work with every nozzle combination. Give a retailer or Makita the model, candidate part number, other attachments, surface and blocked point. Do not substitute a generic adapter based only on diameter.

Check result Decision
Existing attachment reaches and is allowed on the surface Use it as the manual directs; no purchase is needed
A specific part blocks, but the surface and model are known Ask about a compatible part for that exact problem
Model, part combination, surface or required clearance is unknown Hold the purchase and ask the maker or property manager

Do not use the vacuum on wet floors or for liquids or wet dirt. The CL107FD and CL108FD manuals prohibit such use. This guide does not measure cleaning results, dimensions in your home or part availability. See the home cleaning checklist.
